Taking Therapy Outside - Understanding Therapeutic Practice in Outdoor Natural Spaces 2016

Continuing Professional Development for therapists (CPD certificates are available for attendance at this weekend)

4 days - 8-11th September 2016

Powder Mill Woods, Battle, East Sussex

Camping and self catering (shared meals where possible)

These training days will be suitable for therapy professionals such as counsellors, psychotherapists, arts therapists, psychologists who want to explore the potential for their work in moving into an outdoor, natural space.

On this course we will focus on exploring your personal relationship with the natural world as a foundation for developing an underpinning therapeutic rationale. Participants will gain insight into the needs of clients in moving into working in natural settings.

We will also begin to explore the challenge of holding a therapeutic frame in an outdoor natural space as well as the therapeutic processes that come into play. This will include working with metaphor, embodiment, and the four directions of self in nature, and aesthetic connections. This learning will be applied through skills work to further your understanding of working with clients in a natural setting.

The course will involve a mixture of experiential work, attending to group process, skills work, teaching input and group discussion.

We have a beautiful woodland venue at Powdermill woods near Battle in East Sussex. This venue is accessible by public transport. The course is camping (bring your own camping equipment) and self-catering (Shared Meals Where Possible).

You are free to stay off site in local B and B's.
